I have much to say about several copper sink companies, but never pass on that information as I would like to sell our sinks based on the merit of our product and service. I am making one exception. Manhattan Interior Designs needs to be exposed for the truth.
  • They are in direct violation of my patent. I own the patent on the open channel design. The following is their response.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. However, we are not the manufacturer, nor represent that we are. We are a re-seller, and this sink which has differences, is made overseas and we are just one of many re-sellers of the sinks from this manufacturer re-sold within in the US. As such we are not infringing on your domestic patent.

Their claim is pure baloney. You can not sell that design in the US without infringing on my patent.

  • Watch out for misleading information on their web site.

    At Manhattan Interior Designs
We are your leading provider for rustic style Mexican copper sinks, classic Granite Farmhouse Sink, unique apron sinks, and finely crafted copper farmhouse sink, and quality Marble Farmhouse Sink; we offer all of the products you want. We look forward to serving you with products of incredible quality for many years to come.

They claim that their sinks come from Mexico.  That is NOT a fact. They come from China. Here is a link to prove that: http://www.china-sinks.com/contactus.asp They have no reference on their entire site to indicate the sinks come from China.

I have photos and a video of one of the sinks that came from the factory where they get their copper sinks, hoods, etc. Both videos are of a sink that came from the exact same source where Manhattan Designs gets their sinks in China. The hammering photo is how their sinks are hammered. What they don't tell you is that the sinks have a clear lacquer which means once you scratch it, the sink is ruined! They also refer to 100% pure copper - that is also not the case. There is no such thing as 100% pure copper.

Take a look at their use and care statement: How do you take care of Copper Farm Sink?
--- Caring for our copper sinks is easy and virtually maintenance free. For basic cleaning simply use a mild soap and water – other cleaners are not necessary. Keep your basin and drain clean and dry by wiping it down periodically with a soft cloth. For extra protection, a product such as “Wax” may be applied to the copper surface periodically. This will help maintain the luster and provide better water runoff.

Keep your basin and drain clean and dry??? Does anyone else think that is hilarious? See below,  their copper sink has a 30 day warranty

In their defense, after almost an hour of questioning, they do say they would take the sink back and make another if it does not drain properly.

Lastly, watch out for misleading shipping information.

All products are sold to our customers F.O.B.; this stands for “freight on board”. This term simply means, we guarantee all parts from defects or damage base from the factory or warehouse.

The above comment means more than they say. It means that YOU are responsible for handling any damages. Best yet, if you do have a damage and a new sink is required, you have to pay for a second one until you are reimbursed by the shipper. The sinks are shipped directly from China - do you want to deal with that mess? Here is the proof. Our experience tells us there is a fair chance the claim will be denied, and if allowed, the payment could lag by up to two months. The sinks are made of very soft annealed copper. One customer who purchased one of their sinks called us crying. She mentioned that her sink does not drain properly and she can not uninstall it because it is an apron sink undermounted under granite. We will put in writing that our sinks will drain properly. I bet they won't to that!
