60" custom farmhouse sink. Interior is 316L surgical grade stainless steel and the apron is brushed brass. The sink is a dual drain, single bowl sink with two internal ledges - offering a whopping 18" width at the top AND at the bottom of the bowl. Half sheet pans and most, if not all, steam oven trays fit perfectly on our ledge system.

The kitchen is often considered the heart of the home and, with the invention of the workstation sink, kitchen efficiency has reached a new level, bringing genuine joy and ease to food prep and cleanup. However, it is all too common to see inexpensive double bowl sinks in high-value new homes, a choice that can immediately turn off potential buyers who love to cook. Replacing a kitchen sink after installation is costly and disruptive, so investing wisely from the start is essential. Many of our returning customers have shared that their Rachiele sink and faucet were significant factors in how quickly their home sold and at what price.

So what does this mean for you?

  1. Invest in Quality: Choose the best quality sink you can afford, considering your home's location, size, and value. While budget constraints may lead you to choose more affordable appliances like dishwashers and refrigerators, never compromise on the sink. It is one of the most used fixtures in your home, it is expensive to replace after installation, and it is one of the first things a discerning buyer notices. Customers who have purchased a Rachiele sink consistently tell us it was a decisive factor in how quickly their home sold.

  2. Choose a Workstation Sink: A non-workstation sink can instantly date your home and reduce your investment's appeal. Avoid double bowl sinks entirely, particularly the ones offered free with countertop purchases. Free sinks exist for a reason, and that reason is not to help your home's value. A workstation sink transforms your kitchen into a functioning culinary space that serious home cooks immediately recognize and respond to.

  3. Shop Smart: When looking for a workstation sink, be cautious of low-priced options in the $400 to $1,000 range, which are typically suitable for moderately priced homes. These are mass-produced overseas from 304-grade stainless steel with accessories that may or may not fit properly and finishes that show wear within a few years.

Premium homes deserve premium sinks. At the top of the workstation sink market, two brands stand out: the Galley Sink and Rachiele. Both represent a serious investment, with pricing now ranging from $1,200 to $1,600 per foot or more depending on materials and configuration. If you have visited a high-end kitchen showroom recently, there is a good chance you have already seen a Galley sink on display. They are beautiful and well-marketed, and seeing one in person is often what starts a buyer's research journey.

What many of those buyers discover when they dig deeper, particularly in design communities like Houzz, is that Rachiele consistently comes up in those conversations as the superior choice. The reason comes down to a fundamental difference in how the two sinks are made and who makes them. Galley sinks are manufactured at volume and distributed through showrooms nationwide. Every Rachiele sink is handcrafted to order by a small team of artisans in Apopka, Florida, using 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, the same material used in medical implants, or pure copper, brass, or bronze. No two Rachiele sinks are exactly alike, because no two kitchens are exactly alike.

That difference matters both in daily use and when it is time to sell your home.

  4. Consider Size: In luxury homes, a larger sink is often necessary. Depending on the kitchen's size, a 48" sink is usually a good fit, adding to the overall luxury and functionality.

  5. Opt for Custom: If you’re building a custom home, it deserves a custom kitchen sink. Custom sinks ensure unique design, superior functionality, and top-notch quality. Do you really want your sink to be a common sight in home centers or on eBay? Mass-produced sinks lack the distinctive features and craftsmanship of a custom sink. By choosing a custom sink, you’re not just making a statement of luxury and elegance but also investing in durability and personalized style that perfectly complements your home.

  6. Boost Your Home’s Appeal: Zillow’s research shows that homes with updated kitchens, especially those with premium fixtures, tend to sell faster and at higher prices. High-quality sinks play a crucial role in this. Real estate agents often emphasize that modern, high-end kitchens attract more buyers and can justify a higher asking price. Custom kitchen sinks significantly contribute to this appeal.

  7. What Does a Workstation Sink Actually Cost Compared to a Standard Sink?

This is the question I get asked more than almost any other, so let me give you a straight answer with real numbers.

A standard double bowl stainless steel sink from a big box store runs anywhere from $150 to $600. An entry-level workstation sink from an import brand typically starts around $400 to $800. Those are the options you find at Home Depot, Wayfair, or on Amazon, and while the price looks attractive, what you are getting is a mass-produced sink made overseas from 304-grade stainless steel, with accessories that may or may not fit properly and a finish that will show wear within a few years.

At Rachiele, we offer two distinct lines to serve different needs.

The Foundation Series™ is our semi-custom line, available in seven fixed sizes from 18 inches to 48 inches. The 48-inch Foundation Series sink is priced at $2,930 and includes the most commonly ordered accessories. It represents an exceptional entry point into genuine American-made workstation sink ownership without the wait time of a fully custom build.

The Signature Series™ is our fully custom line, where every dimension, material, configuration, and detail is built specifically for your kitchen. The Signature Series is available in our original step workstation design and in our most popular configuration, the NexGen™. The NexGen™ replaces the traditional step with a ledge system that preserves the full bowl depth beneath it. Items that sit on the ledge can also be used on the floor of the sink in the same orientation, giving you maximum flexibility without sacrificing usable space. The Signature Series starts at $4,670 for a 48-inch stainless configuration, approximately $1,167 per foot, and can reach $12,000 or more for fully custom configurations such as a sink with integrated drain boards and backsplash fabricated as a single seamless piece, approximately $1,600 per foot.

  8. So what justifies that price difference over an imported sink?

First, the material. Rachiele uses 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, the same material used in medical implants. It is significantly more durable and corrosion-resistant than the 304-grade steel used in virtually every imported sink on the market. Our copper, brass, and bronze sinks are made from pure metal, not plated or pVD finishes that wear through over time.

Second, the customization. Your Rachiele sink is built specifically for your kitchen, your countertop, your workflow, and your aesthetic. It will never appear in a home center catalog or on eBay.

Third, the accessories. The centerpiece of the Rachiele workstation experience is our multi-use grid, a single accessory that transforms how you use your sink. On the ledge, it serves as a staging area beside your cutting board so your entire cutting surface stays free, a stemware drying rack that holds wine glasses safely upside down, and a knife and cleaver holder that keeps your blades accessible without cluttering your countertop. On the floor of the sink, it becomes a platform for a dish drying rack, a stable base for a colander that allows fast draining without backwash, and a draining surface for rinsing vegetables. That level of thoughtful, integrated functionality simply does not exist in any imported workstation sink at any price point.

Fourth, the longevity. A Rachiele sink is designed to outlast the home it is installed in. Many of our customers consider it a permanent fixture, not an appliance.

Finally, the impact on home value. Real estate professionals consistently report that premium kitchens with distinctive, high-quality fixtures attract more buyers and command higher prices. A $2,930 to $4,670 investment in a sink that makes every potential buyer stop and ask about it is not an expense. It is leverage.

  9. Consider Size In luxury homes, a larger sink is often necessary. Depending on the kitchen's size and workflow, a 48-inch sink is usually an excellent fit, adding to both the luxury and the functionality of the space. Our Foundation Series is available in sizes from 18 to 48 inches, and our Signature Series can be built to virtually any dimension your kitchen requires.

  10. Opt for Custom

If you are building a custom home, it deserves a custom kitchen sink. Custom sinks ensure unique design, superior functionality, and uncompromising quality. Do you really want your sink to be a common sight in home centers or on eBay? Mass-produced sinks lack the distinctive features and craftsmanship of a custom sink. By choosing a Rachiele, you are not just making a statement of luxury and elegance. You are investing in durability and personalized style that perfectly complements your home and exists nowhere else in the world.

  11. Boost Your Home's Appeal Zillow's research shows that homes with updated kitchens, especially those with premium fixtures, tend to sell faster and at higher prices. High-quality sinks play a crucial role in this. Real estate agents consistently emphasize that modern, high-end kitchens attract more buyers and justify a higher asking price. Customers who have come back to us after selling their homes have told us that their Rachiele sink was something buyers specifically mentioned and remembered. That is the kind of impression that converts interest into offers.

Invest in a quality workstation sink, and transform your kitchen into a functional, elegant, and valuable space. Whether you start with our Foundation Series or commission a fully custom Signature Series or NEXGEN sink, you are investing in something that will serve your family beautifully and reward you when it is time to sell.

Now, think about the immediate benefits for you and your family. Workstation sinks streamline cooking and cleaning, making meal preparation faster and more enjoyable while freeing up counter space and keeping the kitchen organized. Luxury workstation sinks, made from top-grade materials like 316L surgical-grade stainless steel, pure copper, bronze, and brass, offer durability, resistance to rust and corrosion, and maintain the high standards expected in a luxury home.

Invest in a quality workstation sink, and transform your kitchen into a functional, elegant, and valuable space.

"When you are ready to explore your options, I invite you to schedule a complimentary Zoom consultation. I want to be clear about what that means. I will not be selling you anything. Our conversations are purely educational. I will answer every question you have about sink design, materials, sizing, installation, and functionality with complete honesty, whether that leads to a Rachiele sink or not. Most of our consultations last an hour and a half to two hours, and more often than not what begins as a conversation about a sink becomes the beginning of a friendship. When people are ready to move forward, they typically just ask me what they need to do to place an order. That is the only sales pitch you will ever hear from me."
