DESCRIPTION

Wood Cutting Boards

American Black Walnut and American Maple, hand-crafted for us in the United States. Each board is made to fit your sink precisely, and the left to right dimension can be adjusted for smaller basins. Custom sizes and wood selections are available. The final photo on this page shows custom ordered white oak boards spanning an entire sink.

Where a wood board belongs

A wood board should never be stored on a workstation sink. A sink is a wet environment, and there are too many opportunities for wood to absorb water: splashes, condensation, steam, a rinsed pot set down for a moment. Water is what causes wood to swell, warp, crack, and eventually fail. These boards belong in a dry cabinet or on a dry counter away from the sink.

For the same reason, we do not recommend them for everyday use. They are made for serving, presentation, and the occasions where the beauty of the wood is the point. For daily cutting, our butcher-grade poly boards are the better choice: high molecular weight HDPE, dishwasher safe, FDA approved, and engineered for repeated food contact.

Care

Treat the board two to three times per month with food grade mineral oil so it does not dry out. Alternate sides regularly so one face does not stay wetter than the other. Never place a wood board in the dishwasher, and never leave it resting on a wet surface.

Our guarantee

Every wood board arrives free of flaws. That we stand behind completely. Beyond arrival, we cannot offer a warranty on wood. Once a board leaves our hands, its life depends entirely on how it is stored, dried, and oiled, and that is not something we can control. We would rather tell you that plainly than promise something we cannot honor.
