Custom Brass Kitchen Sinks
Made in the USA

Handcrafted solid brass workstation sinks designed for exceptional performance, distinctive patina development, and lifetime durability.

Why Choose a Brass Kitchen Sink?

A brass kitchen sink offers a distinctive balance of performance, durability, and visual warmth that is difficult to achieve with other materials. Solid brass has been used for generations in demanding environments because of its structural strength and resistance to corrosion.

Unlike plated or coated materials, solid brass develops a natural patina over time. This living finish gradually deepens in tone, creating character and depth that reflects how the sink is used. Many homeowners appreciate that minor marks blend into the evolving surface rather than remaining visually prominent.

Brass also provides inherent antimicrobial properties, making it a practical material for food preparation areas. The density of solid brass contributes to a quieter experience when compared to thinner materials, while its weight and rigidity provide a feeling of permanence that aligns with high-end kitchen design.

For those seeking a warmer alternative to stainless steel, a brass sink introduces richness and visual contrast that pairs especially well with natural stone, wood cabinetry, and professional-grade cooking appliances.

Each sink is made to order, allowing the design to be tailored to cabinet size, workflow preferences, and accessory configuration. The result is a kitchen sink that combines traditional material character with modern workstation functionality.

What Determines The Investment In A Custom Brass Sink?

Why We Don't Publish Starting Prices for Brass Sinks

Unlike stainless steel and copper, domestic brass is only available in limited sheet sizes. This single factor changes everything about how a sink must be designed and built.

A sink that can be formed from one continuous piece of metal in stainless steel may require a completely different fabrication approach in brass. What seems like a small change in size, depth, or workstation configuration can fundamentally alter the construction process, the amount of skilled hand labor involved, and the final investment.

Because of this, publishing a starting price would be misleading. Two sinks that appear nearly identical on paper can require very different levels of fabrication depending on how the design interacts with the available material. The only way to provide honest, accurate pricing is to review your specific design.

A complimentary Zoom call with Dino takes about 15 minutes. He will walk through your kitchen plans, discuss which designs work best within the strengths of brass, and give you a clear, precise investment number based on exactly what your sink requires. No surprises, no estimates that shift later.

Most brass workstation sinks fall in the $4,000 to $5,000+ range, depending on the size, workstation choice, accessory choices, and configuration.

How Patina Develops Over Time

Unlacquered brass is a living material that responds naturally to its environment. From the moment the sink is installed, subtle tonal variation begins to develop as the surface interacts with air, moisture, handling, and everyday kitchen use.

Areas of frequent contact may gradually deepen in tone first, creating depth and character that reflects how the sink is used. Rather than appearing worn, the surface evolves, blending minor marks into a more unified appearance as the metal matures.

Patina does not follow a fixed timeline. Each sink develops uniquely based on water chemistry, household routines, and the natural conditions within the kitchen. Over time, the finish becomes richer and more visually settled, gaining depth rather than deteriorating.

Clients seeking a more consistent appearance from the beginning often choose unlacquered burnished brass. The controlled burnishing process establishes a more uniform starting tone while still allowing the material to evolve naturally. Burnishing does not prevent patina - it simply influences the initial visual character.

For farmhouse apron fronts, we also offer the option of applying our durable DuraClear topcoat to the exterior face only. This clear finish helps maintain a more consistent appearance on the visible apron while allowing interior surfaces to develop patina naturally.

Brass is selected with a slightly higher copper content to achieve a warmer tonal balance. With normal use, the finish matures gradually, developing depth and character in a way that reflects the life of the kitchen it serves.

Care for Your Unlacquered Brass Sink

Unlacquered brass is intentionally selected for its ability to develop character over time. Routine care is simple and does not require specialized cleaning products. Regular rinsing with mild soap and water, followed by drying with a soft cloth, is typically sufficient for normal maintenance.

Some clients prefer to occasionally refresh the surface to maintain a lighter tone, while others allow the brass to evolve naturally, embracing the depth that develops through daily use. Both approaches are appropriate and depend on personal preference.

For those who prefer the exterior apron to remain visually consistent, our DuraClear topcoat can be applied to the visible face only. This allows the interior surfaces to continue developing patina naturally while maintaining a stable exterior appearance.

Because brass is a living material, variation in tone is expected and considered part of its appeal. Over time, the surface becomes more unified as areas of frequent use blend into the overall finish.

Detailed care guidance is provided with every sink, and we review maintenance preferences during the design consultation to ensure expectations align with the natural characteristics of the material.

Made to Order for Your Cabinet Size and Workflow

Every brass sink is designed specifically for the cabinet in which it will be installed. Cabinet dimensions, countertop material, and intended workflow are all considered before fabrication begins.

Because each sink is made to order, dimensions can often be optimized to provide a larger usable bowl while still fitting within the available cabinet space. Rear corner drain placement allows more functional interior space while preserving room below the sink for storage and plumbing.

Workstation configurations are designed to support real cooking habits rather than generic layouts. Bowl depth, front-to-back dimension, and accessory compatibility are all considered as part of the design process.

With more than two decades of kitchen design experience, each sink is developed to improve comfort, efficiency, and long-term usability. Small dimensional adjustments can significantly improve how the sink functions within the overall kitchen.

During a short Zoom consultation, we review cabinet size, typical cooking routines, and accessory preferences to ensure the final design supports both the space and the way the kitchen is used.

Custom Brass Kitchen Sinks Made In The USA

Every Rachiele® brass sink is offered in either raw, unlacquered brass or burnished, unlacquered brass. Both finishes are left unsealed to age naturally, developing a living patina that becomes uniquely yours over time.

Every Rachiele® sink shown on this website is an actual installation or an in-progress fabrication photo from our workshop.

Because each sink is made to order, the images you see represent real projects completed for real clients. Subtle variation in tone, reflection, and patina development are natural characteristics of authentic solid brass.

We believe material authenticity matters. What you see reflects the true appearance of the metal, the finish, and the level of craftsmanship you can expect.

  • Wooden kitchen sink with a wood cutting board, Rachiele 3.0, light wood tones.

Raw unlacquered brass is presented in its natural satin state, free of coatings, sealants, or artificial aging. From the moment it is installed, the surface begins to respond organically to its environment, developing subtle tonal shifts through daily use rather than wear.

Some clients prefer to occasionally refresh the surface to maintain its lighter, original tone. Others allow the brass to evolve naturally, embracing the depth and character that emerges over time. Both approaches are correct. This is an honest material, chosen not for perfection, but for its ability to reflect the life of the kitchen it serves.

Durable, expressive, and inherently timeless, raw unlacquered brass is shaped as much by use as it is by craftsmanship.

  • A custom-made brass sink with a white countertop in a kitchen setting.

Unlacquered burnished brass is hand-finished using a controlled burnishing process that deepens the tone of the metal prior to installation. The surface remains completely unlacquered, allowing the brass to continue evolving naturally over time. We do, however, offer the option of a very durable topcoat for the face of the farmhouse sink.

Burnishing establishes a more uniform starting appearance with subtle warmth and depth. It does not prevent patina. It simply sets the initial tone. Clients who prefer a more composed look from day one often choose burnished brass, while raw brass allows for greater tonal variation from the outset.

We select brass with a slightly higher copper content to achieve a warmer, more balanced color. With proper use, the finish matures gradually, developing depth and character without becoming uneven.

  • brass-custom-drop-in-sink-with-drainboards-rachiele.webp

The brass we use is a unique alloy composed of approximately 70% copper and 30% zinc. Our bronze is a higher-copper alloy, consisting of roughly 90% copper and 10% zinc. These specific compositions are selected for their durability, workability, and long-term performance in a kitchen environment.

Because both alloys contain a substantial amount of copper, the patina process and natural self-healing characteristics occur across copper, brass, and bronze. Minor surface marks tend to soften over time as the material responds to daily use.

The primary distinction is visual. Brass patina typically develops with greener undertones, while bronze matures into a deeper, richer, golden hue. Both metals evolve naturally, but their color direction and depth are distinctly different.

Shown mid-production, this 7 foot long custom brass drop-in sink was being handcrafted in our Florida workshop by one of our skilled artisans. The design includes a precision-machined ledge system, an oversized bowl, and an integrated handcrafted drainboard, all formed from solid brass.

This sink was ultimately burnished to a deep, dark patina at the client’s request. The burnishing process establishes a richer, more uniform tone while leaving the brass unlacquered and free to continue evolving naturally over time.

Every element of this sink was built specifically for the client, balancing traditional materials with purposeful function. The result is a piece defined not by scale alone, but by intention, longevity, and craftsmanship.

Brass Kitchen Undermount Sink With Rear Deck

This photo was taken by a former customer in 2020. She ordered the sink without burnishing and also chose a Waterstone faucet and soap dispenser in unlacquered brass. She followed up with the following email.

" I love this sink! My whole family loves this. It is a major kitchen and even life upgrade to have something like this. We live in a pretty old house and it used have a dinky, divided sink. As a frequent home cook, it used to be a constant source of irritation that none of my big pots or sheet pans would fit in the sink for cleaning. The design of the Rachiele workstation sink is fabulous. The depth of the sink from top to bottom is perfect and ergonomic; not too shallow and not too deep. I am a huge fan of the internal ledge, which enables me to chop my vegetables in my sink and move them directly to my compost without taking up additional counter space. I also have the dish drainer and will sometimes swap that in when I'm watering house plants. This is a fantastic feature.

Lastly, I want to add that the aesthetic design of the sink plus the Waterstone faucet is perfect for us. We updated some kitchen hardware, and it was only after tons of searching did I find this gem of a sink in natural (unlaquered) brass. No other alternatives came close to looks or build quality. I am a huge fan of Rachiele! I have no complaints and only praise for their product design, build quality, and customer service."

Today, 7/22/24, we received another message: "We are moving. We loved our last custom Rachiele sink so much, we're coming back for another. This time our house is a farmhouse and already has a typical steel farmhouse sink that we want to replace. I continue to love brass and would like to get a cool workhorse that is an essential element in my kitchen. M. King"  The second image is the farmhouse brass sink in her new home.

Choosing a Brass or Bronze Sink: A Quick Guide

A bronze custom farmhouse workstation kitchen sink

Interior Of A Well-Used Unlacquered Bronze Sink

Over time, unlacquered bronze develops a rich, deep golden hue with warm undertones. Daily use encourages the patina to settle evenly, softening minor marks and creating a surface that feels cohesive rather than worn.

Because of its high copper content, bronze responds naturally to contact, moisture, and air. The result is a living finish that gains depth and character with use, reflecting the rhythms of the kitchen rather than resisting them.

Over time, unlacquered brass develops a layered patina with warm golden tones and subtle green undertones. Daily use encourages these hues to blend, softening minor marks and creating a surface that feels settled rather than worn.

Because of its copper-rich composition, brass responds naturally to contact, moisture, and air. The patina evolves gradually, reflecting how the sink is used and the environment around it. The result is a living finish that gains character with time, becoming more cohesive and expressive rather than deteriorating.

Brass Sink Torture Test: A Year of Abuse

To understand how unlacquered brass performs over time, we intentionally subjected one of our handcrafted sinks to a full year of neglect. Cutlery was left in the basin. Soap residue and mineral buildup were allowed to accumulate. It was treated the way many homeowners fear treating a brass sink.

The goal was simple. Observe how the material responds when real life happens.

After a year of heavy use and minimal care, the surface was refreshed using a dry Scotch-Brite™ pad followed by a quick rinse. The entire process took approximately seven minutes. The finish evened out naturally, restoring the sink to a clean, consistent appearance without chemicals or specialty products.

This demonstration highlights the practical advantage of unlacquered brass. The finish is not fragile, sealed, or dependent on coatings. It is active, forgiving, and easily renewed, even after prolonged use.
