At Rachiele, we craft our sinks from a domestic 70/30 brass alloy, which contains 70% copper. This high copper content gives brass its rich, golden color and allows it to naturally develop a stunning patina over time. The lower zinc content improves corrosion resistance and color stability compared to 60/40 brass, often referred to as Muntz brass, which is a 60% copper and 40% zinc alloy.

Unlike lacquered finishes commonly found online, our unlacquered brass sinks require minimal upkeep and evolve uniquely with use, adding character to your kitchen. Please beware of brass sinks that have a clear coat inside the bowl. I promise you, there is no clear coat that will withstand the rigors of kitchen use inside a bowl. A clear coat on the apron, however - if extremely durable, will be a lifetime product.

The below photo was taken by a former customer in 2020. She ordered the brass kitchen sink without burnishing and also chose a Waterstone faucet and soap dispenser in unlacquered brass. She followed up with the following email. 

" I love this sink! My whole family loves this. It is a major kitchen and even life upgrade to have something like this. We live in a pretty old house and it used have a dinky, divided sink. As a frequent home cook, it used to be a constant source of irritation that none of my big pots or sheet pans would fit in the sink for cleaning. The design of the Rachiele workstation sink is fabulous. The the depth of the sink from top to bottom is perfect and ergonomic; not too shallow, and not too deep. I am a huge fan of the internal ledge, which enables me to chop my vegetables in my sink and move it directly to my compost without taking up additional counter space. I also have the dish drainer and will sometimes swap that in, when I'm watering house plants. This is a fantastic feature. 

Lastly, I want to add that the aesthetic design of the sink plus the Waterstone faucet is perfect for us. We updated some kitchen hardware, and it was only after tons of searching did I find this gem of a sink in natural (unlacquered) brass. No other alternatives came close to looks or build quality.
